Summit Midstream Doubles Down on Double E Pipeline Expansion

Summit Midstream has approved a major expansion of its Double E Pipeline, which will add 900 MMcf/d (million cubic feet per day) of transportation capacity and strengthen connectivity in the Delaware Basin. The $100 million project involves installing a bi-directional mainline compressor station on the pipeline system.

The Double E Pipeline transports natural gas from the Delaware Basin to multiple delivery points near the Waha Hub in Texas. Once completed, the expansion will increase contracted firm capacity on the pipeline to approximately 2.2 billion cubic feet per day. Summit Midstream will finance 70% of the project cost, while an ExxonMobil subsidiary will fund the remaining 30%.

The project is expected to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2028 and has already secured orders for the required gas-turbine compression equipment. Heath Deneke, Summit Midstream Chairman, President and CEO, described the development as 'an important milestone' for both Summit and Double E, highlighting the pipeline's growing importance to producers and processors operating in the Delaware Basin.
