Sunshine Silver Touts High-Grade Idaho Mine Project at Mining Forum Americas
Sunshine Silver presented its case for a high-grade U.S. mine at Mining Forum Americas 2026, touting strong resource numbers and a path to production by the end of 2028.
The company's Idaho project is estimated to hold 264 million ounces of silver, with 104 million ounces in the indicated category and 160 million ounces in inferred. The Sunshine mine has diluted grades of 1,022 grams per ton in indicated and 776 grams per ton in inferred, making it one of the highest-grade silver resources globally.
Management is targeting first silver production by the end of 2028 and expects average output of 6.7 million ounces a year in the first five years. The project could supply about 16% of U.S. silver demand and become the second-largest silver producer in the U.S., according to Sunshine Silver.
The company is also advancing a permitted processing facility that could refine silver, antimony, copper, and possibly germanium and gallium.
