Surat Jewellers See Surge in Demand for Luxury Rakhis Ahead of Raksha Bandhan

The Raksha Bandhan festival is just around the corner and Surat's jewellery market is witnessing a surge in demand for diamond, gold, and silver rakhis. Despite record-high gold prices, sisters are opting for these luxury items as a symbol of their love for their brothers and also as an investment.

Jewellers in Surat are offering real diamond rakhis ranging from ₹500 to ₹5 lakh, with premium designs priced up to ₹7 lakh. The market also features lab-grown and American diamond rakhis, along with customised gold and silver designs.

Two-in-one rakhis that can be tied around the wrist on Raksha Bandhan and later worn as a pendant are emerging as a popular choice in Surat's jewellery market. These designs feature a gold or diamond centrepiece with a bracelet-style finish, allowing brothers to continue wearing them on their wrists even after the festival.

Bracelets featuring spiritual symbols such as 'Shree', 'Swastik', and 'Om' are attracting strong customer interest in Surat's jewellery market. Designs incorporating 0.5-gram, 1-gram, and 2-gram gold coins, along with gold-guinea designs, are also selling well.

Deepak Choksi, a leading jeweller, said that the sharp rise in gold and silver prices has changed how customers view jewellery rakhis. Many buyers now consider them not just a symbol of the brother-sister bond but also a form of investment.
