Syrian Energy Minister Updates Parliament on Ongoing Infrastructure Challenges
Energy Minister Mohammed Al-Bashir briefed Syria's parliament on the country's energy sector, revealing its current state and future plans.
The minister addressed oil production, which currently stands at around 112,000 barrels per day, down from approximately 140,000 barrels previously. He noted that the country relies on importing additional quantities of oil to meet its needs.
Regarding refineries, Al-Bashir stated that the Baniyas Refinery underwent comprehensive maintenance while the Homs Refinery continues to operate despite technical issues. He also discussed a project to complete the Arab Gas Pipeline from Jordan, costing approximately $250 million and financed by the Syrian Petroleum Company.
