Tajikistan Seeks Fuel from Iran, Ignoring Trump Sanctions
Tajikistan has requested 2.5 million tons of oil and petroleum products from Iran, a move that ignores US sanctions imposed by former President Trump.
The request was made during a meeting between Tajikistan's Minister of Transport and his Iranian counterpart on August 15 in Tehran.
The request includes two million tons of crude oil, 300,000 tons of diesel, 150,000 tons of gasoline, and 100,000 tons of jet fuel.
Tajikistan had previously relied on Russia for more than 80% of its fuel supplies but faced a crisis after Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian refineries and Moscow's ban on exports.
