Taliban Administration Seeks Iran's Help with Afghanistan's Energy Needs
The Taliban administration has formed an alliance with Iran to meet Afghanistan's oil and gas needs. According to a statement by the General Directorate of State-Owned Companies, officials from the group met with Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad in Tehran.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed supplying Afghanistan's required oil and gas, providing technical training, and joint cooperation in exploration. The statement mentioned that Mohammad Naser Rahimi, the chief executive of the state-owned oil and gas company, also attended the meeting.
The Taliban administration said that the Iranian side expressed readiness for broad cooperation and joint programs in the areas discussed. They also appointed joint technical teams to advance coordination and other necessary work.
