Tantita's Rise Fuels Nigeria's Crude Oil Production Surge
Nigeria's crude oil production has been on an upward trend, surpassing its OPEC quota of 1.5 million barrels per day for the first time in years. Analysts point to the efforts of Tantita Security Services as a key reason for this increase.
Tantita was appointed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in August 2022, and its 100% home-grown staff, mostly from the Niger Delta region, have been instrumental in securing oil infrastructure and preventing theft. Their effectiveness has led to a significant reduction in oil theft, with Heirs Energies' Tony Elumelu reporting that his company's losses have decreased from 97% to just 2% since Tantita took over.
The partnership between NNPCL and Tantita has also contributed to increased investments in the oil and gas sector. In the past three years, President Tinubu has attracted over $50 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) commitments, including major deals with Shell, ExxonMobil, and TotalEnergies.
