Tanzania LNG Project Nears Implementation After Finalizing Negotiations
The long-awaited LNG project in Tanzania has entered its final legal stage after negotiations on commercial, tax, and revenue-sharing matters were concluded between the government and investors. The 42-billion-US-dollar investment is expected to be implemented within the current financial year.
According to TPDC Managing Director Mussa Makame, the remaining legal process will be completed during the current financial year, paving the way for implementation at Likong'o in Lindi Region. Production is planned for over 35 years.
The multinational companies involved in the project include Norway's Equinor and Shell, alongside partners ExxonMobil, Medco Energy, and Pavilion Energy. Makame said the project will create employment opportunities, increase LNG production, and strengthen Tanzania's economy through exports.
