TAP Pipeline Transports Over 62 Billion Cubic Meters of Natural Gas to Europe
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) has transported over 62 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe since its operations began, according to Vugar Veysalov, Head of External Affairs at TAP AG.
TAP is a strategic interconnector that links Caspian gas supplies with European markets and enables cross-border flows across the region. As market needs continue to evolve, TAP remains focused on strengthening its role as a link between Caspian gas and European markets, contributing to Europe's long-term security of supply.
The pipeline forms part of the Southern Gas Corridor and transports natural gas from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz field to European markets. Its initial capacity is 10 billion cubic meters per year, expandable to 20 billion cubic meters. Following TAP's Market Test in 2021, additional capacity was made available from January 2026, with 1.04 billion cubic meters intended for Italy and 0.16 billion cubic meters for Albania.
