TCP Receives Nine Bids for Wheat Import Amid Domestic Shortage Fears
The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has received nine bids for the import of 656,000 metric tonnes of wheat, as part of its efforts to avert a potential shortage in the local market. The bids range from USD 348.83 to USD 369.95 per metric tonne, and were submitted by 13 parties that participated in the tender.
The federal government has planned to import around 750,000 metric tonnes of wheat, following requests from the provinces due to a expected shortfall in domestic production. The first wheat import tender was opened on September 8, 2026, at the TCP head office.
The lowest bid was submitted by Agrocorp for a supply of 55,000 metric tonnes of wheat at USD 348.83 per metric tonne, while the highest bid was received from Olam, which agreed to supply 55,000 metric tonnes of commodity at USD 369.95 per metric tonnes.
The TCP is currently in the process of evaluating the bids and will select the successful supplier based on the tender terms and conditions.
