Tech Stocks Buoy Asia Markets as Oil Prices Slide
Asian stocks continued their upward trend on Wednesday, driven by consumer demand for AI apps and tech stocks. The region's shares have now risen for six consecutive sessions, with South Korean stocks leading the way at a gain of 0.5%. Taiwan also firmed up 0.7% to near all-time peaks.
The surge in tech stocks was fueled by strong consumer uptake of 's Muse agent, which has topped US app download charts in the past two weeks. Analysts are now keen to see how a similar product from Labs known as CC will fare with consumers.
On the oil front, prices fell further on reports of increased supply out of the Middle East. Saudi Arabia had restarted operations at its East-West Pipeline and may have already resumed exports from the Red Sea port of Yanbu.
