Teck Resources Ltd. reported a significant increase in its third-quarter profit, driven by higher copper and zinc prices. The Vancouver-based mining company's profit attributable to shareholders rose to $1.59 billion, or $3.24 per diluted share, compared to $281 million, or 57 cents per diluted share, in the same quarter last year. On an adjusted basis, the company earned $1.88 per diluted share, up from 76 cents per diluted share a year earlier.
Revenue for the quarter totaled $4.52 billion, a substantial increase from $3.39 billion in the third quarter of 2025. The company's financial performance was bolstered by the rising prices of key metals, which have been favorable for the mining sector.
However, Teck Resources is facing operational challenges as about 1,200 workers at its Highland Valley Copper mine began a strike over the weekend. The company has stated that operations are continuing at a reduced capacity, but the impact on production will depend on the duration of the job action.
