Tennessee Gas Prices Soar Past $3.92 Amid Rising Crude Oil Costs
Tennessee gas prices are on the rise, driven by the increasing cost of crude oil and tensions in the Middle East. According to AAA, prices across the state rose eleven cents per gallon last week, reaching $3.92 - a $1.15 increase from September 2025. This marks the second straight week of price hikes, with the statewide average now 25 cents more expensive than one month ago.
Crude oil prices surged to over $100 per barrel last week, which has contributed to the higher gas prices. 'If crude oil prices remain elevated, it's likely that drivers will see pump prices continue to fluctuate higher throughout the week,' said AAA spokeswoman Megan Cooper.
The Memphis metro area is one of the most expensive markets in the state for finding gas, with an average price of $3.96 per gallon. This is only beaten by Jackson, where the average price is $3.98 per gallon. Filling a 15-gallon tank now costs roughly $17 more than it did at this time last year.
