Tensions Ease as Trump Signals End to Iran War
US President Donald Trump's statement that the war with Iran may be nearing an end has raised hopes of easing economic pressure on global businesses. However, fighting is still ongoing in parts of the region, and a confirmed ceasefire or final agreement has not been reached.
The conflict has disrupted energy supplies and shipping routes, pushing oil prices above $100 a barrel. Oil prices fell by around 2% on Thursday as concerns over supply disruptions eased. Brent crude dropped to about $103 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate fell to around $101.
Saudi Arabia has been working to reroute its East-West oil pipeline and redirect some shipments through Oman. If tensions continue to ease, businesses could see lower energy and transportation costs, benefiting industries such as airlines, shipping companies, manufacturers, and logistics firms.
