Texas Gas Prices Hit Record Highs Amid Geopolitical Concerns
Texas is bracing for its highest September gas prices on record, with regular unleaded gasoline averaging $3.86 per gallon as of September 16th, a 13-cent increase from last week and over $1 more than this time last year.
The steep rise in fuel costs has left drivers feeling pinched, with many forced to cut back on everyday expenses. 'It's not right. I don't think it's fair that we have to pay these prices,' said Darcey Clegg, who noted that her household had to make adjustments to their budget due to the increased gas bills.
Average gas prices in Texas are defying the typical seasonal trend, which usually sees demand and prices decrease after the summer driving season. However, geopolitical concerns have driven up crude oil prices, overpowering this downward pressure on pump prices.
