Texas Gas Prices Soar as Crude Oil Costs Reach New Heights
Texas drivers are facing higher gas prices this September, with the statewide average climbing to $3.93 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel. This is 10 cents more than last week and $1.14 more compared to the same day last year.
According to AAA Texas, El Paso has the highest average price at $4.41 per gallon, while Houston has the lowest at $3.83 per gallon. The national average is $4.44, which is 16 cents more than a week ago and $1.24 higher than last year.
The increase in gas prices can be attributed to the high crude oil costs, currently hovering around $100 per barrel. Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping routes, have contributed to the volatility and increased shipping costs.
Diesel prices are also at an all-time high, with a statewide average of $5.96 per gallon. If crude oil prices remain high, Texas could see its most expensive September gas price average on record.
