Texas Gas Prices Surge as Crude Oil Hits $100
Texas drivers are facing higher gas prices as crude oil has returned to over $100 per barrel. According to AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch, the average gas price across the state was $3.83 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel on Thursday.
This represents a 14-cent increase from last week and a significant jump of $1.07 compared to the same day last year.
The highest prices were found in El Paso, where drivers are paying an average of $4.22 per gallon. In contrast, Houston drivers are paying the lowest price at $3.69 per gallon, while Amarillo drivers pay an average of $3.81 per gallon.
The increase is attributed to the volatility in the Strait of Hormuz, which has led to higher crude oil prices. Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas spokesperson, noted that 'Texas drivers are seeing a noticeable increase at the pump as higher crude oil prices work their way into the retail gasoline market.'
