Texas LNG Production Booms as Corpus Christi Expansion Nears Completion
Cheniere Energy's Corpus Christi project has received approval from the Federal Regulatory Commission to expand its liquefaction capacity, allowing it to export 18 million tons of liquid natural gas (LNG) annually. The project, backed by Exxon Mobile, Golden Pass LNG, and Qatar Energy, is set for completion by the end of the year.
CEO RT Trevino of Pecos Country Energy referred to Texas as 'the Saudi Arabia of liquid natural gas', highlighting its potential to become a major fuel source globally. He emphasized that affordable energy provided by America would hurt economies like Russia's, Iran's, and China's.
LNG is produced by cooling natural gas to below 260 degrees Fahrenheit, allowing it to be transported where infrastructure does not exist. Trevino stated that the project will add more jobs and provide energy security for international regions.
