Thai Manufacturing Output Takes a Hit in June
Thailand's manufacturing production index (MPI) fell by 3.1% in June compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the Industry Ministry on Monday. This decline is weaker than analysts' forecasts, which had predicted a 0.2% increase.
The main contributors to this drop were weaker automobile and petroleum production. Car production specifically fell by 7.55% year-over-year, while palm oil production plummeted by 33.2%, said Supakit Boonsiri, head of the ministry's industrial economics office.
Despite these declines, some sectors are showing resilience. Demand for electronics and technology-related products continues to grow.
