Thailand Pins Energy Future on Liquefied Natural Gas
Thailand's energy future is expected to be anchored by liquefied natural gas (LNG), according to Kongkrapan, who sees LNG as a key contributor to the economy. National oil and gas conglomerate PTT Plc has positioned LNG as the cornerstone of Thailand's energy future, foreseeing its role as a stabilising driver in an era defined by electrification, energy security and artificial intelligence (AI).
The company believes that LNG will play a crucial part in ensuring energy security and stability, particularly with the increasing demand for electricity due to electrification and industrial growth. PTT Plc is planning to invest heavily in LNG infrastructure, including regasification facilities and pipelines, to support the growing demand.
PTT Plc's Managing Director, Kongkrapan, stated that 'GNL will be a key driver of our energy future' and that it will provide stability in an era defined by electrification and AI. He also mentioned that LNG will play a crucial role in reducing dependence on imported oil and ensuring energy security.
The company's plans to increase the share of natural gas in its fuel mix from 51% to 53% by 2023, while reducing the share of crude oil from 30% to 25%, demonstrate its commitment to LNG as a key component of Thailand's energy future. PTT Plc aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensure energy security through the use of cleaner-burning natural gas.
Kongkrapan emphasized that 'GNL will be a stabilising driver in an era defined by electrification, energy security and AI' and that it will provide stability and reliability. He also mentioned that LNG will play a crucial role in reducing dependence on imported oil and ensuring energy security.
