Thailand Prepares for Andaman Sea Oil and Gas Bidding Round
Thailand is gearing up to launch its 26th petroleum bidding round in the Andaman Sea, which has attracted strong interest from international energy companies. The Department of Mineral Fuels expects this new phase of offshore oil and gas exploration to contribute significantly to the country's domestic natural gas supply.
The Pailin gas field in the Gulf of Thailand is already contributing to the domestic supply but its output is dwindling, highlighting the need for new exploration efforts. The bidding round is expected to take place later this year.
According to the Department of Mineral Fuels, several international energy companies have expressed interest in participating in the bidding process. This includes a number of companies that have already established operations in Thailand's oil and gas sector.
