Thailand's Gold Prices Plummet Amid Market Volatility
Thailand's gold market began the week on a downward trajectory, according to the Gold Traders Association. On September 9, 2026, the association announced a sharp 450-baht price cut in its first update at 9:04 a.m., bringing the selling price of gold bars to 68,150 baht per baht-weight and gold ornaments to 68,950 baht.
The initial price drop was followed by 21 subsequent adjustments throughout the trading day. However, selling pressure eased in the afternoon, allowing closing prices to recover from their daily lows.
At the close of trading at 5:30 p.m., gold bar prices had declined a net 150 baht compared to the previous day's close. The market volatility was reflected in the multiple price adjustments, which underscored the persistent uncertainty in the market.
