Thursday's Markets See Mixed Results
Closing markets on Thursday, August 6 saw mixed results for various commodities.
Corn futures on the Chicago Board of Trade showed an increase in both September and December contracts. September corn futures rose by 2 cents to $4.38 per bushel, while December contracts gained 1 cent at $4.61 per bushel.
Soybean futures also saw a rise in both September and November contracts. September soybeans increased by 2 cents to $11.59 per bushel, with November contracts gaining 2 cents as well at $11.77 per bushel.
In contrast, wheat futures declined for both September and December contracts. September wheat fell by 11 cents to $6.30 per bushel, while December contracts dropped 11 cents to $6.49 per bushel.
The live cattle and feeder cattle markets also saw losses on the Chicago Board of Trade. October live cattle futures decreased by 427 cents to $225.20 per hundredweight, with December contracts dropping 407 cents to $224.60 per hundredweight. Feeder cattle futures for both September and October fell significantly, with September contracts down 662 cents at $341.75 per hundredweight and October contracts decreasing by 747 cents at $331.95 per hundredweight.
The Ontario Pork Report revealed a slight increase in the U-S CME price for dressed weight pork. The price rose to $98.87 per hundredweight, up from the previous day's figure of $98.66. Additionally, the 100% formula price increased by $1.25 to $246.05 per hundred kilograms.
