Tirlán Unveils Grain Prices for Harvest 2026 Amid Lower Intake Figures
Tirlán, an Irish co-op, has announced its grain pricing for harvest 2026. The prices are as follows: €220 per tonne for green feed barley and €230 per tonne for green feed wheat.
The 2025 harvest saw a record intake of almost 223,000 tonnes, which was 45,000 tonnes more than the previous year's figure. However, the 2026 harvest has fallen short of expectations, with Tirlán reporting a total grain intake of just 190,000 tonnes.
The co-op is offering premium payments for higher-value crops, including malting barley and gluten-free oats. Over 42% of this year's harvest will qualify for these premium payments, worth €2 million in total.
Tirlán Chair Ger O'Brien commended the co-op's tillage farmers for their 'remarkable resilience' in producing high-quality crops despite challenging conditions. He emphasized the importance of supporting domestic grain growers through competitive pricing and sustainable markets.
