Titas-28 Gas Well Begins Commercial Operations Amid Ongoing Supply Shortages
A new well at the Titas gas field has begun supplying 12.5 million cubic feet of gas per day to the national grid, marking a modest boost to domestic production amid ongoing supply shortages.
The well, known as Titas-28, was inaugurated by State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit on September 19th.
Titas-28 is part of the government's initiative to drill 150 wells by 2030, with 27 already underway. The project aims to increase domestic output as imported liquefied natural gas has become two to three times more expensive, making it unsustainable for the country to bear the cost.
The well was drilled at a cost of around Tk 2.0 billion and is expected to add 12.5 million cubic feet of gas per day to the national grid.
