Top Leveraged and Inverse ETFs Post Strong Weekly Gains
Last week saw significant gains for several leveraged and inverse exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Topping the list was the BBUL ETF, which provides 2x leveraged exposure to BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB) stock. The fund surged nearly 28% after BlackBerry's fiscal second-quarter earnings report exceeded analyst expectations and included raised full-year revenue guidance.
The PUL ETF, offering 2x leveraged exposure to Everpure, Inc. (NYSE: P) stock, ranked second with approximately 23% gains. The stock's rally was driven by an ambitious long-term financial outlook and strong retail and institutional buying.
Other notable performers included the ONG ETF, which tracks ON Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: ON) stock, and the CRWL ETF, focused on CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. Both funds benefited from positive news, including ON Semiconductor's restructured Synaptics acquisition and CrowdStrike's robust demand for AI-driven cybersecurity tools.
Inverse ETFs also saw strong performance. The GDXD ETF, which provides 3x inverse exposure to gold miners ETFs, gained due to falling gold prices driven by a stronger U.S. dollar and high Treasury yields. Similarly, the KOLD ETF, offering inverse leveraged exposure to natural gas, returned over 12% as U.S. natural gas prices tumbled following repairs and mild weather forecasts.
