Toronto Futures Tick Higher on Earnings Boost Amid Mideast Tensions
Toronto futures ticked higher on Thursday as energy and mining companies reported strong earnings, lifting sentiment in Canada's stock market.
The S&P/TSX Composite index September futures were up 0.3% at 6:40 a.m. ET, following a 1.2% decline on Wednesday.
Vermilion Energy and Kinross Gold posted higher second-quarter profits, contributing to the overall market boost.
The uptick in energy stocks was also driven by escalating attacks between the US and Iran, which disrupted oil flows through key shipping routes and pushed oil prices up 0.2%.
