TotalEnergies' GranMorgu Project on Track for Mid-2028 Oil Production
TotalEnergies and its partners are making progress on the $12 billion GranMorgu offshore oil and gas project in Suriname. According to Staatsolie's head of state, Annand Jagesar, the project is expected to reach first oil by mid-2028.
The project, located in Block 58, has already seen significant investment with TotalEnergies' chairman Patrick Pouyanne stating that about 50% of the planned total investment has been spent. The block is adjacent to Exxon Mobil's massive Stabroek block in Guyana and has been closely watched due to its vast offshore resources.
GranMorgu will be the first project to develop Suriname's offshore oil and gas resources, with Wood Mackenzie estimating that the country has more than 2.4 billion barrels of oil and liquids, as well as over 12.5 trillion cubic feet of gas, in its discovered resources.
