TotalEnergies Greenlights Ima Gas Field Development in Nigeria
TotalEnergies has made a final investment decision (FID) to develop the Ima Gas Field in Nigeria, which will contribute to the country's domestic industrialization objectives and accelerate monetization of its vast non-associated gas reserves.
The Ima Gas Field is located offshore in shallow waters by Bonny Island and will be connected to Nigeria LNG via a 22 km pipeline. With a single platform required for development, production is expected to start up in 2028.
The field is expected to generate 350 million cubic feet per day (representing over 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day), with one third of the gas supplied to Nigeria LNG's Train 7 expansion project. This will raise the liquefaction plant capacity from 22 million tons per annum (Mtpa) to 30 Mtpa.
