Trans Mountain Pipeline Runs at Near Full Capacity in Q2
Trans Mountain Corp., a Crown corporation responsible for operating Canada's largest oil pipeline, reported that it ran at almost full capacity in the second quarter of this year. The Trans Mountain pipeline, which carries crude oil from Alberta to the Vancouver area, operated at 94% capacity during this period.
The pipeline has undergone significant expansion since 2024, tripling its capacity to 890,000 barrels per day. In the three months ended June 30, the pipeline carried an average of 840,000 barrels of oil per day, up from 703,000 during the same period last year.
Trans Mountain's revenue rose to $808 million in the second quarter, while its net income fell to $138 million. The corporation paid $450 million in interest and dividends to the federal government during this time.
