Trans Mountain Pipeline Runs Nearly Full as Expansion Yields High Volumes

Trans Mountain Corp., a Crown corporation, reported that its pipeline running from Alberta to the Vancouver area is nearly full. The Trans Mountain pipeline carried an average of 840,000 barrels of oil per day during the second quarter, up from 703,000 in the same period last year. This represents about 94% capacity utilization.

The expansion project tripling its capacity to 890,000 barrels per day came into service in 2024 and has been operating at high levels since then.

Net income for the quarter was $138 million, down from $150 million in the same period last year. However, revenues rose to $808 million from $719 million.

The company paid $450 million to the federal government during the second quarter in the form of interest and dividends.
