True North Copper Sees Opportunity in Looming Copper Boom
Copper demand is on the rise due to growing orders from electric vehicles, power grid upgrades, and data centers powering artificial intelligence. Benchmark London Metals Exchange pricing has remained above $14,000 per ton, with some predicting it could surpass the record high of $14,500 per ton reached briefly in January 2026.
True North Copper (ASX:TNC) is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend, according to its managing director Andrew Mooney. The company's focus on copper is driven by the commodity's resurgence as one of Australia's defining industries.
Mt Oxide, a high-grade copper-cobalt-silver project in Queensland, is True North Copper's flagship asset and a standout growth opportunity. Recent drilling has extended the Aquila discovery by 100 meters to approximately 300 meters below surface, strengthening confidence in the continuity of the northern high-grade shoot and the discovery's scale potential.
The Cloncurry copper project, on the other hand, is expected to deliver cash flow first. With contained resources of 128,000 tons of copper and 152,000 ounces of gold, it is supported by existing infrastructure and multiple exploration targets with significant potential to add to the mining resource base.
