Trump Addresses UN Amid Ongoing War in Iran
President Donald Trump is set to address the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, as the war in Iran continues to dominate global headlines. The conflict has disrupted energy markets and strained shipping routes in the Middle East, even as US and Israeli strikes have killed much of Iran's top leadership and damaged its air force and navy.
The war has also led to rising oil prices, with Brent crude hovering near $100 per barrel, up from roughly $70 before the conflict began. Despite a recent improvement in traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, threats to oil infrastructure and shipping lanes continue to unsettle markets.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said, 'This will end at the negotiating table. Either we sign a deal now or sign a deal 10 months away. The only difference is the number of dead and destruction that we see.'
The visit will also feature a new agreement with Denmark and Greenland that would expand the US military footprint on Greenland while keeping the Arctic territory under Danish control.
