Trump Administration Announces Historic Deal with Venezuela on Oil Reserves
President Donald Trump's administration has announced a deal giving the United States access to Venezuela's vast oil reserves, a move touted as 'THE BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY.'
The agreement, which was negotiated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, among others, gives the US a 55% effective output in the new private company, North America Blue Energy Partners (NABEP), which has been granted rights to untapped oil fields for 100 years.
The deal involves the development of 17 fields with a proven potential of 65 billion barrels and could draw $100 billion in investment into Venezuela's oil industry, yielding over $209 billion in taxes for Caracas. The private operator currently produces about 200,000 barrels a day, making it the second-largest private operator in Venezuela behind Chevron.
Venezuela's acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, described the deal as a step toward economic recovery that will modernize the country's oil industry and make it an energy powerhouse. However, some experts warn that repairing the dilapidated oil infrastructure will take years and billions of dollars, meaning a substantial boost in production is not expected to happen quickly.
