Trump Announces South Korea's $200 Billion Energy Infrastructure Investment

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on September 28, 2026 that South Korea will invest $200 billion in U.S. energy infrastructure as part of a broader trade agreement.

The investments include $54 billion for the long-planned Alaska LNG project, which aims to move North Slope gas through an approximately 800-mile pipeline to a Southcentral Alaska liquefaction and export facility.

Project developer Glenfarne estimates that this project could create about 12,000 construction jobs and up to 1,000 long-term operations jobs, according to Trump.

The investments are also expected to strengthen American energy dominance, as Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick noted during the announcement.
