Trump Announces South Korea's $200 Billion Energy Investment in US
US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that South Korea will invest $200 billion in energy projects in the United States. The investment would include $54 billion for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline project in Alaska, which has not yet been decided upon by Seoul.
The Alaskan LNG pipeline project involves building an 800-mile pipeline to transport natural gas from the North Slope to a facility near Anchorage for shipping to Asian markets. However, South Korea has stated that it will only proceed with the project once certain conditions are met.
Trump also announced that South Korea would invest in a $22.3 billion natural gas-fired power project in Texas, which will supply power to AI data centers. Additionally, Seoul confirmed plans to invest $120 billion in building eight nuclear reactors.
