Trump Backs UK PM Plan for North Sea Oil Expansion
US President Donald Trump has announced that Britain's new Prime Minister Andy Burnham intends to significantly expand oil exploration in the North Sea. Speaking at the White House, Trump said he had discussed the issue with Burnham and welcomed his commitment to increasing offshore oil production.
According to Trump, Burnham assured him that the UK would open up North Sea oil reserves, which he claims are among the world's most valuable but have been underutilized. The US President contrasted this approach with that of former Prime Minister Keir Starmer, whom he said had resisted similar calls.
Trump has repeatedly encouraged previous British leadership to make greater use of domestic energy resources. He argued that increased North Sea production could strengthen the UK's economy and reduce dependence on international energy markets.
