Trump Blames Iran for Saudi Oil Pipeline Attack
US President Donald Trump pointed to Iran as the likely culprit behind the attack on a vital Saudi oil pipeline, which has been shut down due to injuries and damage.
The East-West Pipeline was targeted by multiple drones coming from Iraq on Thursday, according to the Saudi foreign ministry. The energy ministry added that the pipeline had been closed as a precautionary measure.
Trump made the comment during a visit to Ireland on Saturday, stating 'I think they are, probably they are' when asked about the incident. He also mentioned speaking with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whom he referred to as a 'good friend.'
The attack has added to the turmoil in energy markets and major disruption in shipping due to the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran.
