Trump Clarifies US Stance on Yemen-Saudi Conflict Amid Houthi Strikes
US President Donald Trump has clarified his country's stance on the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthis. Speaking from Air Force One, he stated that Washington is 'not involved with that' right now but left open the possibility of future intervention if needed.
Trump emphasized that the US is currently focused on negotiating a civil nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia. However, he also reiterated his earlier condition for finalizing this arrangement: that Riyadh must join the Abraham Accords, a series of diplomatic pacts establishing formal ties between Israel and several Arab nations.
The Houthis have been engaged in a conflict with Saudi Arabia, which has included missile strikes against Saudi targets. In response to these attacks, Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for drone strikes on what they described as 'sensitive' Saudi crude oil supply and transport infrastructure.
