US President Donald Trump has called on major oil companies to lower retail fuel prices, citing improved conditions for the US energy sector as a result of his administration's policies.

On Monday, Trump praised Chevron Chairman and CEO Mike Wirth in a statement posted on Truth Social, but criticized him for not giving enough credit to the administration for the company's success.

Trump pointed out that Chevron had returned to Venezuela, which he claimed was 'thrown out' previously but is now back 'far bigger and stronger than ever before', expecting significant profits.

The President concluded his statement with a direct appeal to the energy industry: 'Get your consumer (retail!) Oil Prices DOWN, NOW!'
