Trump Forces Europe to Open Emergency Oil Vault Amid Iran War
Global fuel prices have surged due to the ongoing war with Iran and disruptions in energy supplies. In response, US President Trump has pressured Europe into releasing its emergency diesel reserves.
The G7 has announced plans to release up to 100 million barrels of strategic oil reserves over four months through the International Energy Agency (IEA). A substantial amount will be released within the first 20 days as G7 members and partners try to ease pressure on fuel markets.
According to Trump, Europe had agreed to release a 'massive amount' of diesel stocks, with the process beginning immediately. The release is part of efforts by the G7 to mitigate the effects of the Iran war on global oil supplies.
