Trump Hints at Ending Iran War Without Nuclear Deal
US President Donald Trump hinted that he may end the Iran war without a nuclear deal if Tehran fully reopens the Strait of Hormuz, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The Strait has been closed due to US economic pressure on Iran, but Trump told aides he would lift the blockade if Iran meets certain demands. These include lifting sanctions on Iran and unconditionally releasing its frozen assets.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran is not currently negotiating with the US, but continues to exchange messages through intermediaries. He emphasized that any agreement with Oman would not fully reopen the Strait.
The US has been sneaking millions of barrels of oil out of the Gulf every night through Hormuz's southern lane in coordination with the US military, an unnamed official told Axios.
