Trump Hints at New Talks with Iran Amid Economic Pressure

President Donald Trump has hinted at a new round of talks with Iran in an interview with Axios. Despite rejecting a ceasefire proposal from Tehran, Trump expressed his expectation that negotiations will resume this week. He stated, 'I expect more talks with Iran [this week]. They want to make a deal, but it is not the deal that I want to make. It is what we would have maybe agreed to a year ago. They overplayed their hand.'

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also commented on the situation, predicting that Iran will complete its remaining oil shipments to China within two weeks. This, according to Bessent, will leave Tehran with 'nothing left to trade for anything' as the Trump administration continues its economic pressure campaign.
