Trump-Iran Talks Send European Gas Prices Lower

European natural gas prices plummeted on Monday following President Donald Trump's announcement of direct talks with Iranian officials, easing fears of supply disruptions.

The relief was short-lived as storage facilities remain well below their five-year average ahead of the winter heating season starting November 1.

The Dutch front-month contract at the TTF hub fell 2.2% by mid-morning to around €56.50 per megawatt-hour, while Britain's equivalent wholesale gas contract dropped 2.0% to 141.00 pence per therm.

Trump's outreach to Iran has driven global crude oil benchmarks down over 5%, bringing immediate relief to European gas markets.
