Trump Optimistic About Iran Talks, Rejects Tehran's Proposal
US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism about further talks with Iran this week, despite ongoing disagreements over key issues. According to him, Iran wants a deal but it's not the one he wants to make. He emphasized that he is always considering resuming strikes on Iranian targets.
Trump also highlighted his administration's efforts to facilitate the transit of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, stating that more than 20 million barrels of oil exited through the waterway over the weekend. This is reportedly the largest amount since the conflict began.
The US President rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end hostilities within seven days, arguing that it did not meet Washington's demands. The proposal was conveyed to Washington through Qatari mediators and included conditions such as the release of frozen assets and a ceasefire with regional allies.
