Trump Rejects Iran's Proposal to Reopen Critical Strait

US President Donald Trump has rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, citing a lack of trust in Tehran. According to US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz, this decision was made due to concerns that Iran would not honor its commitments under a potential agreement.

'That's partly it,' Waltz said when asked about the reasons behind Trump's rejection. 'They violated the previous deal.'

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway for international trade and economic stability, with approximately 20% of global oil supplies and around 25% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports passing through it.
