Trump Rejects Iran's Proposal to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump has rejected Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a week. The offer was contingent on the US lifting its naval blockade of Iranian ports, waiving sanctions on Iranian oil sales, and observing a ceasefire that includes Lebanon.

The Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian, left New York after the UN gathering, where he pushed back against Trump's threat to 'annihilate' Iran. However, he ended his speech by stating Tehran remains open to diplomacy.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that under the proposal, Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume talks on its nuclear program in seven days if the US meets the conditions.
