Trump Rejects Iran's Proposal to Reopen Strait of Hormuz Within Week

US President Donald Trump rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a week. The proposal, made by Iran's president Masoud Pezeshkian, would have seen the strait reopened and talks on Iran's nuclear program resumed if the US lifts its naval blockade, waives sanctions on Iranian oil sales, and observes a ceasefire in Lebanon.

Trump stated that Iran wanted to make a deal because it was 'losing so badly.' He added that he thinks making a deal is fine but any deal would not be acceptable.

The Strait of Hormuz has been closed since February when the US and Israel attacked Iran, leading to a significant drop in ships passing through the waterway.
