Trump Rejects Iran's Seven-Day Plan for Strait of Hormuz Reopening
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi proposed a seven-day plan to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz, key to the world's oil supply. The plan was reportedly conveyed to the United States through Qatar.
The proposal includes a cessation of all hostilities in the Middle East for seven days, including in Lebanon, and the release of frozen Iranian assets estimated to be worth at least $12 billion. Additionally, it calls for the lifting of sanctions on Iranian oil and an end to the US naval blockade of Iran.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that a ceasefire 'process will begin from the very day they accept' the plan. However, Trump reportedly rejected the proposal, citing concerns that Tehran would not meet his demands.
