Trump Rejects Seven-Day Ceasefire Plan from Iranian President

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has proposed a seven-day ceasefire plan to US officials, but it was rejected by Donald Trump. According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump told aides he expected renewed US bombing after November's midterm elections.

The Iranian proposal would see Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end hostilities across all fronts, including Lebanon. In return, Washington would lift its blockade on Iranian ports and release frozen Iranian funds.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran sent the proposal through Qatari mediators. Under the plan, Iran would also waive sanctions on Iranian oil exports and permit UN nuclear inspectors under a negotiated agreement.
